Copyright and Licensing

Copyright Ownership

The copyright of all articles published in Tethys Environmental Science remains fully with the authors. Authors are not required to transfer copyright to the journal.

Upon acceptance for publication, authors grant Tethys Environmental Science a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free right to publish, reproduce, distribute, and communicate the accepted manuscript and the final published version (Version of Record) in both printed and electronic formats. This arrangement allows broad dissemination of the work while preserving the authors intellectual property rights.

Open Access Policy and License

Tethys Environmental Science is a fully open access journal. All articles are made freely and permanently available immediately upon publication.

All published content, including the final published version of record, is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Under the terms of the CC BY 4.0 license, users are permitted to:

  • Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.
  • Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercial use.

These freedoms cannot be revoked, provided that the terms of the license are fulfilled.

Attribution Requirements

Any reuse, distribution, or adaptation of content published in Tethys Environmental Science must include:

  • Appropriate credit to the original author(s);
  • A citation of the original publication, including the journal title and DOI (where available);
  • A link to the Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 license;
  • A clear indication of whether any changes were made to the original work.
Third-Party Material

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to use any third-party material included in their manuscripts, such as figures, tables, images, or data not originally created by the authors.

All third-party content must be appropriately credited, and documentation confirming permission for reuse must be provided where required. Material not covered by the articles Creative Commons license must be clearly indicated.

Author Reuse and Self-Archiving Rights

Authors may freely reuse, share, and redistribute their published work, including both the accepted manuscript and the final published version, without restriction.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Posting the article in personal, institutional, or subject-based repositories;
  • Use in teaching materials, lectures, and presentations;
  • Inclusion in future works such as books, reviews, or derivative publications.

Proper citation of the original publication must always be maintained.

Article Processing Charges

Tethys Environmental Science applies a transparent publication model. Any article processing charges (APCs), if applicable, are clearly stated on the journals website. If no APCs are charged, this is explicitly indicated to authors prior to submission.

Publishers Role

Tethys Environmental Science acts as the first publisher of the scholarly work but does not claim exclusive ownership over the content.

The journal is responsible for ensuring the visibility, accessibility, indexing, archiving, and long-term preservation of published content in accordance with recognized scholarly communication and open access standards.

Compliance with International Standards

This policy complies with international open access principles and best practices, supporting maximum dissemination and reuse of scholarly work.

It aligns with the recommendations of COPE, DOAJ, and widely accepted open access licensing standards, ensuring transparency, author rights protection, and global accessibility of scientific knowledge.
